next-level facilities to inspired inquiry. Commit to solving the greatest challenges.

The University of Georgia College of Engineering is home to extensive state-of-the-art learning, research and core facilities used by faculty and students to tackle the world's greatest challenges. Significant investments in our research mission will generate a two-fold increase in our research space in the next two-to-three years. At the same time, we're transforming the learning environment for our undergraduate and graduate programs by investing in major renovation of our instructional hub, the Driftmier Engineering Center.

Driftmier Engineering Center

The Driftmier Engineering Center serves the heart of UGA's undergraduate and graduate programs. The 110,000-square-foot building, constructed in 1966, is undergoing a major revitalization. The first phase of the project, completed in fall 2019, significantly expanded and enhanced instructional laboratories and classrooms while adding new spaces for collaborative work. A second phase of the renovation, scheduled to be completed in fall 2020, will add a modern auditorium classroom and other new instructional and collaborative spaces.

Boyd Graduate Studies Research Center

The Boyd Graduate Studies Research Center is home to state-of-the-art research laboratories for UGA College of Engineering faculty and students. Completed in fall 2019, a significant renovation of the building's first floor created new research laboratories, collaborative spaces, and more than 1,500-square feet of space for graduate student work spaces.

Riverbend Research Laboratory

The Riverbend Research Complex houses research labs and offices for faculty and students spanning biomedical, biological, materials and device work. Major facilities include our micro/nano fabrication facility, high-velocity water flow tunnel and a borad range of characterization capabilities.

Interdisciplinary Science, Technology, Engineering and Math Research Building

Scheduled to open in summer 2021, the $65 million I-STEM building will provide research and collaborative space for faculty and graduate students in chemistry and engineering. The facility represents the future of research and education in the STEM fields at UGA.
